Leigh Steere of the Lead Change Group has shared an excellent post on 9 ways to sink employee engagement. One list item metaphorically sums up the importance of having a vision with tangible outcomes, and then communicating that vision:
Communicate pie-in-the-sky visions that lack specifics? The danger: Each employee will walk away with varied images of the finished rocket ship. Since they are working from different pictures, their components won’t fit together in the end, and the rocket won’t fly.
The concept take-away is indelible … wasted work on muddled outcomes and an equally muddled team.
